Hurricane Season Begins June 1st. Are You Prepared?

Hurricane season officially starts June 1, but early predictions are being made. Colorado State University (CSU) is forecasting an “extremely active” season, according to an outlook posted on April 4.

The forecast predicts 23 named storms, 11 hurricanes, and five major hurricanes, which is a category three or higher (wind speeds 111 mph+). The 1991-2020 seasonal average is 14 named storms, seven hurricanes, and three major hurricanes.
